How does the Traineeship Program work?
The Mantel Group Traineeship Program is a paid traineeship designed to support talented women and gender minority groups to take the first step in their tech career.

Hear from our trainees
“By investing in myself and following the path into UX, I have the privilege of being in the fantastic Mantel Group trainee program that promotes skill development and collaboration by truly being in it together. This opens a whole lifetime of learning opportunities that I can't wait to venture into, and deep insight as to how the world of tech works. As a junior designer, getting to observe as much of the moving parts as possible lets me learn from the ground up to make sure I have a clearer insight into what is possible and what demands are being made of my teammates in the process of development. Taking the risk of pivoting into a new career also allowed me to join a passion project that aligns perfectly with my values and hopes for a more sustainable world by simplifying diet data that will help us identify carbon emission and water consumption budgets, thereby helping reduce our impacts. I feel hopeful for the future and truly appreciate the opportunities I have been given. This traineeship holds great potential to change my life through the connections I'm making with amazing people and the skills I'm learning. I feel like I really can do what I love and be awesome at it, at Mantel Group, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.”Benita BothaDesign Trainee
“When I got married and moved to Australia I was a recently graduated doctor with an overseas qualification. The opportunities were limited for me. So I decided to transition into Health Management, where I have been working for the last 5 years. My last role was as an Administration Manager and I soon realised that there was no opportunity for me to progress further. I was always interested about the technology advancement in health, so I decided to make a career transition into tech. I completed a web development bootcamp and started to apply for internship roles. That is when I came across the traineeship program at Mantel group. It is a great program for women who want to enter the IT industry and I am really excited to be part of it. I am hoping to develop my technical skills and gain experience through the program, which will enable me to pursue a career in IT.”Amanda ParanamanaSoftware Engineer Intern
“I was introduced to the traineeship program by a friend who worked at Mantel group. She spoke so highly of the company culture (my first consideration with any role), their commitment to diversity and focus on continual development. It is quite scary especially as a woman in tech to make a career pivot so being part of a program that is designed to support minority gender groups in making this change is really exciting. It is awesome to see Mantel Group showing up and being part of the change.
On day three I already feel so welcome and comfortable here, everyone has been amazing and it is great to have the support of the other trainees. I am really enjoying learning more about the other job functions and how the business works as a whole. I hope to finish this program with core skills I need to be a successful designer, some amazing new contacts and increased confidence 🙂”Simone ChaitraDesign Trainee
“I live in Wollongong with my husband and 3 children (and our beagle Eddie and bearded dragon Steve). I was a primary school teacher for many years, specialising in supporting students with additional needs. Last year, I made a career change into design, and took a year off to study graphic design at TAFE and UX/UI at Academy Xi. I heard about Mantel Group through a local tech networking channel and applied for the traineeship. I hope to put what I have learned over the past year into practice and to learn from others along the way.”Yvonne HillDesign Trainee
