Automation and personalisation will underpin enhanced member experience and expanded health services for HBF Health Limited’s 1.1 million members, following a multi-year wholesale technology transformation.

Mantel Group supported the nation’s second largest not-for-profit health fund on key components of its digital refresh, including the design and build of its new claims system on AWS’ cloud platform, while ensuring compliance with APRA security standards.

“These are among the most critical workloads that we have,” Sanjeev Gupta, HBF’s Chief Information and Transformation Officer says. “Mantel Group’s deep experience helping APRA-regulated entities migrate core systems to the cloud has turbocharged our transformation”.

Adam Durbin, Mantel Group’s Chief Technology Officer, says, “We are seeing increasing investment among organisations seeking to improve digital experiences for customers while driving operational efficiencies.”

“More broadly in the healthcare insurance sector, there is growing interest and investment in Generative AI to enhance member experience and create lean operations. Providers are leaning on us to help them embrace the technology quickly, yet safely,” he says.

Mantel Group commenced working on the HBF’s technology transformation program in late 2021. Within 18-months, the collaboration had delivered:

  • Critical system migration, design and build
  • AWS platform readiness and cloud migration
  • APRA security consulting

“It is a testament to the tenacity and vision of the HBF team to successfully execute a large, complex  technology transformation, involving sensitive data and critical systems,” Durbin says. “Together we have developed a resilient technology architecture that will enable amazing member experiences.”
